Birthing children is one of the most beautiful gifts bestowed upon a woman. It’s also the most important job one will have in their lifetime should they decide to reproduce. But man o’ man does it wreck your body! During my pregnancies I ate healthy, exercised and remained active. With the first child I was ver young; needless to say I bounced back to my pre-baby weight almost immediately. The second time around I was NOT so fortunate.
Giving in to the occasional craving of Twix, Snickers, Pickles and queso frito; by occasional I mean once daily. Over indulging coupled with Lupus (an autoimmune disease) led to considerable weight gain, 90 lbs to be exact!! After birthing a healthy 6 lb baby I was left with the arduous task of shedding quite a bit of weight. The weight did NOT come off as quickly as it did 9 years earlier with my first child . I breastfed the baby until he was 2 years old therefore was unable to crash diet. Instead I relied on a strict diet created by a nutritionist which provided enough calories to sustain nursing. It was during this time I was introduced to the CIZE dance program. CIZE made working out fun, like dancing in the club with my girls. Burning hundreds of calories dancing, eating well balanced meals and nursing helped get me back to my ideal weight.
These days I maintain my weight by running and dancing. Dieting has always been an issue for me as I am not very disciplined. Snacks and candy make me weak but portion control is the key I’ve learned. Look for future posts with workout videos and details. For now, enjoy a few photos of my journey…
